The basement of this Reston home is spacious with tons of room for the family of five, but the ‘French country’ inspired finishes were more traditional than our contemporary-leaning clients liked. It was time to bring it right up to date in keeping with the rest of their home. The design brief? A modern, family-friendly space with lots of zones for entertaining, relaxing, movie watching, working out and an all important upgrade to the Guest Bedroom and Bathroom. The final touch: heated floors to keep things cozy in the winter months!Â
In addition to the complete remodel of the Rec Room, barely a room in the basement was left untouched. We completely remodeled the Media Room, turning it into a high-tech theatre room with a large screen T.V. and room-darkening colors and fixtures for better movie and sports watching! The Home Gym also underwent a change with more modern colors and matching interior doors for a consistent look in the basement. The Guest Suite was also updated. The Guest Bathroom is now a cool, contemporary space (ready for college-aged kids to come home to!), with a heated towel rail, washlet and modern fixtures.
